I was highly amused at this fair. Last Sunday which fell on 31st March, I went to see the said village fair. Fairs and festivals are very common in India. Many children were enjoyed elephant-ride. The exhibition was held in the vast grounds of the banks of the river Cauvery. People were going to different directions. My father bought some toys for us and my mother bought some bangles. Satire, irony and abuse are freely used with no offence. Their folk dance was worth- seeing and we watched it with great happiness. At another place merry go- rounds were crowded with boys and girls, men and women.
The main attractions were a large number of clothes shop and Health products shop. It is held on the first day of the month of Baisakhi every year. The jugglers and snake charmers had also a busy time. They were wearing gorgeous, gaudy clothes and were beaming with joy. In Durgapur this is the very good fair than any other fair.
Every heart is happy at such a time. It is organised every year with a view to encourage and inculcate a scientific temper amongst students. One farmer had a peculiar pumpkin which was praised by everybody. Still most of the people in India live in villages. Almost all fairs are common in villages, towns and cities. In the evening the fair broke up and people were seen hurrying back to their homes with arms full of toys and sweets. The Red Cross stall draws a big rush.
Every year there will be a fun fair exhibition in our place. At Ramlila grounds, there was a huge crowd of people at the entry itself. It encourages them to invent newer and newer things. Failure should be our teacher, not. Loudspeakers had been arranged at different places in the fair to warn the people of antisocial elements and black-marketers who sold stale sweets.
